At some point in your life, you’ll need to move some furniture, or an appliance. It might be you need to move it a little bit, to another part of a room, or somewhere else entirely.
Most of the back injuries I’ve faced in my life have to do with these kinds of movements. I’ve also found myself struggling at times to move things like a washer or dryer to access something behind it.
That is why it’s important that you have a few tools to help you out. These tools are inexpensive and very helpful in moving small, large and heavy items across wood, tile or carpet.
First up are these pretty basic disks. You lift your furniture ever so slightly and place these disks under the furniture. The disks are made for either carpet or solid flooring.
These are easy to find and come in a number of shapes and sizes. I like this kit because it has enough of each type to be very flexible and handy.
Sometimes the job requires larger pads, and for this reason I have found these to be great for moving large pieces of furniture.
But what if the item you are moving is hard to lift? Lifting something big and awkward can cause injury.
For this reason you should have a lifting tool such as this one
This tool gives you leverage that you can use to lift something up, in order to place a moving slider underneath. It will save your back.
A similar device that is excellent for moving appliances, fridges, washers is this mover that has wheel based pads that slide under the furniture or appliance.
I used this a few weeks ago to slide a small refrigerator out from its location to repair something.
Finally, for jobs that require you to move really heavy appliances you can use air to lift the appliance with a pump.
These are great to use for adjusting the level of any appliance so you can get it in the right place and then use the adjustable feet. This tool has a few uses beyond lifting furniture that you can learn about on YouTube.
Between all these tools, you should be covered to move nearly anything - all for less than $100
