My favorite gadget of 2024 🕶️

I’ve been eager to write about the Ray-Ban Meta Sunglasses because they are my favorite purchase of 2024 (so far). Unlike the Apple Vision Pro, these have a lot of everyday utility. I absolutely love taking photos and videos that are more “everyday life” than I would ever think to take with my iPhone. There is something about just having an always available camera that means your behavior around what you capture changes. I can also capture “hands free” by saying “Hey Meta, record a video” and then 60 seconds later I have recorded something. I also love using these as “AirPods” which work out very well on vacations and travel where I do not want to be cut off from the outside world.

What’s also very cool is that no one really notices you are walking around with a camera on your head. They look close to normal sunglasses. You really have to inspect them to see the two cameras.

This is an overlook of the “Grand Canyon of Yellowstone” and the glasses were able to quickly capture the scene from the perspective of my eyes, which is exactly how I experienced them - including the uneasiness I had overlooking the edge.
